Introjection – When you introject, you take inside yourself what a parent, teacher, or friend says or does, and make it part of your own thoughts without thinking about it. (For example, if you are told to say "please" and you do it automatically, even when no one is watching, you have introjected that rule.)
From Susan Storm: “If you believe you’re too much, too sensitive, too flawed, then when someone else says it, it won’t hit as hard. You already knew. You’re already bleeding. You swallow the criticism before it’s even spoken. This is introjection.”
Avoiding being fake or shallow. Protecting a self-image of authenticity or depth. (Type 4)
